FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

  • Peak is looking for a new fitness Instructor to join our team! You must be passionate about fitness and have the ability to teach students of all levels. The ideal candidate is committed to empowering students to reach their health and wellness goals in a supportive and inclusive environment. 

    Requirements:

    • ✦ Completion of a Group Fitness Certification (NASM, ISSA, ACE, or other reputable organization)

    • ✦ Experience teaching group fitness (ie. HIIT, Tabata, Strength & Conditioning)

Floor Staff

  • Starting Pay: $12.77/hour
    Reports To: Managers and Supervisors

    Overview:
    As Climbing Center Floor Staff, you are the front line of Peak Experiences—responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and vibrant climbing environment that reflects our Vision and Core Values. Your work directly supports the growth of our community through exceptional customer service, safety awareness, and personal initiative.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Customer Experience & Safety

      • Greet and engage all guests with enthusiasm and professionalism

      • Promote a fun, risk-managed environment for all climbers

      • Provide encouragement, climbing advice (“beta”), and belays as needed

      • Support guests through clear communication, testing, instruction, and gear rental

      • Monitor and enforce safety protocols throughout the facility

    • Operational Support

      • Perform guest check-ins and process sales accurately

      • Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and equipment rotation

      • Restock merchandise and maintain rental gear

      • Enter waivers, tests, and other records efficiently and correctly

      • Assist with group events, parties, and programs as needed

    • Team & Personal Development

      • Attend monthly staff trainings

      • Proactively build skills and cross-train in different areas of the gym

      • Communicate openly with leadership and contribute to team feedback

      • Stay informed via email and When I Work; pick up shifts as available

    Minimum Requirements

Manager

  • Manager on Duty (MOD) – Peak Experiences

    Who We Are:
    At Peak Experiences, we believe in inspiring community, growth, and adventure through climbing. As a MOD, you’ll be a leader who embodies our Vision and Governing Values, while supporting both our staff and members in creating a world-class climbing experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leadership & Oversight:
      Serve as the acting leader during your shift, ensuring smooth daily operations, a high standard of customer service, and risk-managed climbing experiences.

    • Staff Support & Supervision:
      Lead, mentor, and support staff with a hands-on, positive approach. Provide real-time feedback, coaching, and conflict resolution when needed.

    • Customer Experience:
      Be present, proactive, and visible on the floor. Foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects Peak’s core values. Interact with customers, resolve issues, and create raving fans.

    • Operational Excellence:
      Implement and uphold policies and procedures. Manage shift-specific tasks including opening/closing duties, incident reports, scheduling adjustments, and quality control.

    • Facility & Program Coordination:
      Support climbing center programs, events, and classes. Coordinate with Youth Programs, Camps, and Front Desk teams to ensure alignment and success across departments.

    • Risk Management:
      Maintain a vigilant focus on safety. Monitor staff compliance with belay checks, facility policies, and emergency response protocols.

    • Team Communication:
      Act as the point person for communication between front-line staff and leadership. Provide concise shift notes and hand-offs for continuity across shifts.

    You Are:

ROUTESETTER

  • Our team is characterized by a spirit of team-work, empathy, and intentionality. Our Setters play an integral part in fulfilling our mission.

    Experience:

    • Commercial routesetting experience is preferred

    • Minimum one year climbing experience is required

    • Ability to climb V4 or 5.11 required

    Time Commitment:

    • Must be fully available to work at least two shifts per week (~15 hours/week) during daytime hours (8am-6pm)

    • Must commit to a minimum employment of six months, nine months preferred.

YOUTH PROGRAMS COACH

  • Youth Programs Coach – Peak Experiences (RVA & Midlothian)

    Position Summary:
    The Youth Programs Coach supports the delivery of Peak’s climbing-focused development programs for kids and teens. You’ll work with small and large groups across a range of ages, helping young climbers learn movement skills, build confidence, and have fun in a safe, supportive environment. Coaches are ambassadors of Peak’s values, fostering teamwork, goal setting, and positive community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and facilitate age-appropriate climbing programming

    • Instruct groups on climbing fundamentals, technique, and safety

    • Supervise youth both on and off the wall

    • Communicate with families about progress, expectations, and scheduling

    • Assist in program setup, teardown, and equipment management

    Program-Specific Coaching Duties

    Peak Playtime – Ages 5–7

    Location: Peak Midlothian

    • Guide young climbers in introductory climbing games and activities

    • Emphasize fun, movement exploration, and basic skills in a low-pressure environment

    • Support climbers as they build comfort with ropes, holds, and partners

    • Encourage teamwork and camaraderie among participants
      Peak Playtime is an afterschool-style weekly program tailored for early explorers.

    Scramblers – Ages 8–12

    Location: Peak Midlothian

    • Lead more structured group practices focused on fundamentals and progression

    • Teach climbers goal-setting, team practice routines, and climbing techniques

    • Provide feedback on movement efficiency, footwork, and route strategy

    • Foster a supportive, fun environment where climbers grow together
      Scramblers introduces kids to climbing with a developmental focus, building toward more advanced skills.

    Cliffhangers – Ages 13–17

    Location: Peak RVA & Peak Midlothian

    • Coach older youth with a range of experience levels, including beginners and more advanced climbers

    • Focus on individualized improvement goals, technique refinement, and tactical climbing

    • Guide climbers in building strength, resilience, and confidence on the wall

    • Support teens in cultivating positive training habits and self-directed learning
      Cliffhangers is ideal for teens committed to improving climbing skills and pursuing personal goals.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with children and teens

    • Passion for climbing and movement education

    • Strong communication and leadership skills

    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

    • Comfortable coaching a range of ability levels

EVENT Staff

  • Event Staff – Peak Experiences (Midlothian)

    Position Summary:
    Event Staff support and execute group-oriented experiences at Peak Midlothian, ensuring each event — from birthday parties to late-night climbs — runs smoothly, safely, and with great energy. You’ll work directly with guests of all ages, help facilitate activities, and be an essential part of creating memorable climbing experiences in a fun, inclusive environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate and supervise climbing and group activities during scheduled events

    • Set up and break down event spaces (gear, mats, signage, food areas)

    • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and families

    • Enforce safety policies and maintain a clean, organized environment

    • Support check-in/check-out and answer guest questions

    • Coordinate with other Peak staff (front desk, coaching, management) to deliver seamless events

    Event-Specific Expectations

    Birthday Parties – All Ages (Midlothian)

    • Greet families and manage party flow from arrival through departure

    • Facilitate climbing rotations, games, and age-appropriate activities

    • Provide clear safety demos and supervise climbers on roped walls and auto-belays

    • Ensure food/time transitions stay on schedule

    • Deliver excellent guest experience — fun, attentive, and responsive

    Birthday Parties are the heart of our group events — safety, energy, and service are critical.

    Climb to Midnight (Teens & Adults)

    • Support late-night session logistics and guest arrivals

    • Help run climbs, games, challenges, and themed activities throughout the night

    • Monitor safety, participation, and transitions between segments

    • Act as an engaging host — make announcements, energize participants, and handle questions

    • Coordinate snack/water breaks and assist with closing duties

    Climb to Midnight is a high-energy, social climbing event that blends fun and community — staff must be upbeat and attentive.

    Other Group Events (Corporate, Schools, Community)

    • Facilitate tailored agendas (e.g., team building, youth groups)

    • Adjust communication and activity pacing based on group needs and age ranges

    • Support check-in, waivers, group divides, and event wrap-up

    • Maintain safety and positive group flow at all times

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Comfortable working with diverse ages and group sizes

    • Strong communicator and problem-solver

    • Passionate about climbing, movement, and guest service

    • Experience in customer service or event coordination (plus)
